Addiction

If you or someone in your life are having addiction-related problems, you can begin by telling a trusted person or contacting a rehabilitation center. This may help to solve the problem by isolating you or another person from the addicting thing. If you know someone who has an addiction that has already been addressed, there are things that you can do in order to hopefully lessen their addiction.

You can start by building trust with the addicted individual. This will enable you to guide them in the right direction. If the individual does not trust you, it will be more difficult to direct them. The second thing that one can do to help an addicted person is to be honest with them when talking about how their addiction has affected both of you. This may help them to understand that their addiction has caused many problems in their life and in others’ lives. When helping someone with an addiction, avoid forcing them to do away with their addiction. It is better to guide them in a gentle and healthy way.
